Chilean education problems lie son the neo-liberal  economic experiment that the country has been experiencing during  the last 30 years. It’s about how the  capital, its acumulation and production has turned into the corner Stone of every social aspect that was before a mater of state.  Therefore, the whole system Works as a big fence that stops anyone who tries to make a change pushing towards a social rather than a economic direction. By this system, we are only educated to produce, consume and die. A father does not educate his son,  he pays others to do the job, he pays for a service, a standarization of something far more complex than a product. And thas what  schools or universities produce: A product, a student or a profesional that by a chart, is suposed to be capable of doing certain kind of stuff.
Free education wasn’t a fairy tale back on the fifties in chile,  since most of our father or grandfathers were able to get profesional by this path.

I would  like to say, that the problem goes far more tan only education.  The current system it is not but a way on which the wealthiest families, the oligarquic ones that instigated most of the changes during the militar goverment, have consolidated their dominion in áreas such as banking, rents, insurances, loan, credits, AFP’s, public health system, etc. Seizing the way we live for their own profits. In this way, 2011 was a year where we  started to make vox populi this situation, and even more, we could put this into the streets, taking the public spaces as our own way of expresión againts this dominion, and not only through parlament or never ending comissions or proyects. It’s about how chilean society started to create a conscience.

Earth2100 review

My own depiction of a dry world on 2100

Movie Review

Name of Movie: Earth 2100

Describe/list/ outline the main themes of the movie.  (50 words)

Main themes of the movie were the behavior of north American society (and by extension, the first world) regarding natural resources, the un- sustainable way which cities are developed and how little we care about the future of our planet. It’s first intention is to create conscience about this topics.

Write a review (200 words) of the video.  Highlight the importance of the movie’s information/ themes/ topics to your own personal experience and professional perspective.

The movie is a piece of work, made for North Americans, and for North Americans. It presents the topics by shock, first putting on perspective some real facts, like global warming, food scarce or oil shortage, and the complementing whith a fictional story of a girl called Lucy who experiences the whole transformation of the world and society according to a worst case scenario. It explores the result of today most-likely to be problems in the future, and puts them on stage. For example, it shows how the lack of water due unsustainable consumption drives the city of Las Vegas to a drought and the impact on economy and society as a result. Also, the movie talks about examples in human history where societies became unstable in finally collapsed, like the Roman Empire, the Mayans or the eastern island culture. The key element is the story experienced in the eyes of Lucy, as through the whole movie she experiments how the socio-economic structure tears apart, piece by piece during the 80 years that the story last until 2100, and how some decisions made in the right moment (decisions and habits of today’s modern life) could have prevented the end. This whole scenario is showed in order to create conscience, then, to the spectator, and how he can be a tool and an actor on the demise of his own future

List a minimum of three facts, pieces of important information or “other” from the video that you would like to remember and would want to tell a friend about.

1. People tends to get mad when their social and economic structure falls apart

2. A sustainable way of living is the ONLY way to achieve further development in our society

3.The actual resourcing consumption requires like 4 planet earths if we all consumed like in the EEUU

I'm francisco valdes, architecture stundent and a Rock&roll fan. as you can see, my hobby is to draw, sci fi and fantasy stuff mostly.

todays assigment is to write about my vacations, so here it goes.
I'm from San Felipe, so thats where I stayed on january an february. It is a small city, on Valparaiso region. When i was still on university, I told to myself that on cacations i’ll  try to get ‘til the last drop of every day, doing stuff or going out. Things like long bicycle trips, parties or gigs become usual. Also, since i don’t like just to sit and rest trough the day, I started doing some random projects, like drawing a comic, repair a friend’s bicycle (task for wich I gained a caipirinha kit in return) and making my own electric guitar (THE Summer Project). The last one was very particular, for I needed to learn how to use a number of machines that were in my home. Drills, saws and routers become usefulls tools in the task, and a little about of electronic that I had to learn in order to make the whole thing work. The final result was not the best on terminations, But when the time to play it arrived, it sounded a lot like HELL YEAH.
